Maximum age on the date of the written exam is 34, however, applicants with active military duty, as defined in Section 243 (10-a) of the New York State Military Law, may deduct up to seven years from their age to meet the maximum age requirement. Veterans with seven years of active duty can be up to 41 years old on the date of the exam.
